As a mental health nurse with over 13 years experience I have mainly worked with adults experiencing both acute and chronic mental illness. This has taught me that mental health problems can have a wide range of causes and are likely complicated by a combination of factors. More often than not this includes difficulties during childhood therefore I see the absolute value in working with people when they are young. I passionately believe that if we can support individuals in their early years to recognise signs of mental wellbeing problems, to understand the positive and negative impact of activities on their mental health and to feel able to talk about their emotions then we can improve their lifelong chances of sustaining positive mental health.

Since working with Foundation Futures I have been able to utilise my expert knowledge and skills to support vulnerable young people.
